Greek Baseball Road Trip

June 7 - 17, 2018

Plans have been finalized for our 2018 baseball road trip to Greece, so now is  the time to gear up if you plan to join us.  Baseball was played in Greece as exhibition  games in the 1950's, as Little League in the 1960's and 1970's, and the Greek National team played as hosts in the 2004 Olympics.  What level will we be?  Only time will tell as we'll be playing 5 games over a 9 day period against local amateur adult teams in the Athens area over the course of our trip. Due to the nature of baseball in Greece, we will be playing games on the weekends and go sightseeing on the week days visiting several Greek islands. This may be your only chance to ever play baseball in Greece where you'll play in the shadow of the Acropolis and be able to cross it off your bucket list. Offering extensive sightseeing and baseball camaraderie, we are now signing up players for this exciting trip, so don't miss out.

Greece has an ancient culture that has had a significant influence on the arts, language, philosophy, politics, and sports of western society. Greek influences on theatre include the genres of comedy and drama. while other influences include Platonic ideals and the Socratic method, democracies and republics, and the Olympics. It's also a geographically appealing place to visit, with a mountainous mainland and idyllic island beaches. Plus they play baseball!

Information On Our 2018 Greece Baseball Road Trip

Interested in joining us? Well the requirements are simple.  First, the ability and desire to play baseball in a unique international setting.  Second, an interest in international goodwill and sportsmanship (e.g. if you swing the bat at the ump after a called strike three, please try fantasy baseball).  Third, an adventurous spirit willing to venture forth into the exotic land of Greece. Sound interesting?

What’s involved in this once in a lifetime opportunity? First, you will depart America on June 7th and arrive in Athens the next day where you'll transfer by cab to the Hotel Divani Acropolis Palace in Athens. After a day of rest and souvlaki , we will begin our baseball exploits playing five games in Athens against local adult baseball teams.   In Greece they only play baseball on the weekends, so we will spend the weekends playing baseball and the weekdays sightseeing and island hopping. Island hopping? That's right! On Monday we will board the cruise ship Celestyal Olympia that will visit four Greek islands and also make a stop in Turkey.  We will then return on Friday for a day of sightseeing in Athens before we end our trip with a weekend doubleheader.
