Caribbean Baseball Adventure
Imagine waking up each morning in a new port, playing a new team on a different island and then exploring the island the rest of the day. Well, there's no need to imagine as we have finalized plans for our Royal Caribbean International's Adventure Of The Seas baseball cruise. We will start in San Juan and play 5 games on 5 islands against local teams. We plan on taking two teams. The first will be playing the full rules of baseball with everyone batting each game and the second team an invitation only team playing goodwill rules.
On day one you will travel to San Juan, check into the team hotel and join us for a team dinner to kick off our trip, The next day, we'll meet in the lobby dressed in full uniform where our team bus will pick you (and your luggage) up and take us to our first game. After the game, you'll be whisked to our cruise ship for early check in and lunch. That evening we set sail to visit four more islands playing baseball along the way.
Game action from our previous cruise with fans watching the game from their balconies.
Our home for this eight day adventure will be the Adventure of the Seas, the pride of Royal Caribbean International's fleet. Onboard activities include amazing cruise features including an ice skating rink, a street fair and a rock-climbing wall Ė among others. The Adventure of the Seas is one of the world's largest cruise ships has one of the highest space-per-guest ratios in the cruise industry. Onboard amenities include enhanced staterooms, expanded dining options, fitness center and spa, five story theater, exceptional recreational facilities, and 15 bars/lounges.
Our Tentative Caribbean Baseball Cruise Schedule
The cost per player for this Caribbean baseball adventure is $1095 while the fee for each accompanying fan is $495. For players the registration fee includes a welcome dinner in San Juan, a night at our San Juan team hotel, transportation to our San Juan game, transportation directly to the ship after the game, early cruise check in and onboard lunch, nightly team dinners, transportation to/from all the baseball fields, field rentals, umpires, games and a souvenir polo shirt. Plus a highlight of our adventure will be the donation of baseball equipment to the baseball federation on each island we play.
Due to the unique nature of this event, we will not have separate sightseeing excursions for our group after the games. Instead, fans will be able to explore the islands on your own or join any of the dozen different excursions offered on each island by the cruise staff. Information on the available excursions will be provided once you have registered for the cruise.
What isnít included in this wonderful invitation? Just a few basic things. First, you are responsible for making your own airfare reservations to San Juan (air fare sales should start in October) and taking a cab to our hotel ($15). Second, you must have a valid passport with at least six months until it expires to board the cruise ship. Third, each player will be responsible for bringing their own uniforms, bat, batting helmet, and a dozen leather baseballs Finally, you must book the category of cabin that you desire for the cruise as the cruise cost is NOT included in the baseball registration fee. Adventure Of The Seas offers several cabin categories ranging from $600 to $1500 per person including:
You may book through any travel agent, store (e.g.; Costco), organization (e.g.; AARP, AAA) or website you like, but once booked please email us your cabin number so we can make arrangements for the nightly group dinners. Please also request normal dinning at 6pm to assure we will all be at the same dinner table for our group dinners. A $250 deposit secures your cabin and guarantees you'll be joining us for the evening group dinners. The balance is due October 31st.
A recommendation: try out the website www.cruisecompete.com to have several travel agents bid on your cruise. This will provide you a range of prices and onboard credit offers to chose from, but also give you an idea of your options when you deal with any of the previously mentioned cruise reservation sources.
If you are interested, please email me directly as we only plan to take only 12/13 players on this sea "road" trip so everyone plays as much as possible. Going single and looking for a cabin mate? Let us know and we'll try to connect you with fellow players who are also looking for a great cabin mate. Please do not make airline reservations until the team is full.
