Norway!

Oslo and Kristiansand

August 6-13, 2023

SOLD OUT

Norway, the land of the midnight sun, is nature’s wonderland with its mountains, glaciers and deep coastal fjords. It has one of the world's highest standards of living due to its natural gas and offshore oil reserves. With a population of over 5.4 million people, the quality of life there produces a life expectancy over 81 years. Its rich history includes Norway’s Viking Age when Vikings pillaged and plundered abroad with some even settling in Scotland and Greenland. Preserved 9th-century Viking ships are even displayed at Oslo’s Viking Ship Museum. Arctic animals such as reindeer (also known as caribou) and wolverines live throughout Norway. And now is your chance to see it all for yourself!

We’ll start our Norwegian adventure by flying into Kristiansand, a southern seaside resort city that’s also the 5th largest city in Norway. The next day we’ll start the day sightseeing and end the evening playing the first of three games against the local baseball club. After a few days in Kristiansand, we will head off to Oslo for more sightseeing. Oslo, the capital of Norway, is known for its green spaces and museums including the waterside Norwegian Maritime Museum and the Viking Ship Museum. After Oslo you’ll have your choice of heading home or taking an optional excursion to Bergen, a city on Norway’s southwestern coast surrounded by mountains and fjords with its world renowned colorful wooden houses on the old wharf.

Wishing to experience more of Norway?  Then join us on an optional three day trip to Bergen stay.  You’ll take the scenic “Bergensbanen” train on the 13th and experience one of the most beautiful and spectacular journeys in Europe. Built in 1909, the Bergen Railway journey leaves Oslo and takes a picturesque mountain track to the fjords ending in Bergen.  The next day we’ll take a Fjord Cruise returning in time to explore the historic fishing village of Bergen on your own.  After a peaceful night’s sleep, you’ll have the option of flying home from Bergen or extending your stay by returning to Oslo.

Sound interesting? Then here's your chance! Plans have been finalized for our baseball road trip to Norway, so now is the time to gear up if you plan to join us. Offering extensive sightseeing and baseball camaraderie, we are now signing up players for this exciting trip, so don't miss out.

Interested in joining us? Well the requirements are simple.  First, the ability and desire to play baseball in a unique international setting.  Second, an interest in international goodwill and sportsmanship (e.g. if you swing the bat at the ump after a called strike three, please try fantasy baseball).  Third, an adventurous spirit willing to venture forth into the historic and picturesque Norway.

What’s involved in this once in a lifetime opportunity? First, you will depart America on August 6th and arrive in Kristiansand the next day where you'll transfer by cab to our hotel. After a night of rest, we will begin our baseball exploits playing three games in Kristiansand against local adult Norwegian baseball teams before heading to Oslo.

By now you are probably asking yourself how you could be so lucky to have the opportunity of a lifetime and play baseball in Norway? Well, it’s time to come back to earth as every dream has its price, but this one’s reasonable. Though Norway is a high cost country that has also been hit by soaring inflation, higher energy prices, and financial unrest as a result of the war in Ukraine and other global challenges, we have been able to organize a reasonably priced baseball road trip. The cost for each player in a double room is $2495 and the cost for a tourist in a double room is $2395.  Single rooms are $2895 for a player and $2795 for a tourist.   The optional Bergen sightseeing optional cost is $600 for each person in a double room and $700 in a single room. Final payment is due June 1st after which time no refunds will be given.

What's included in this price? A whole lot on this trip including:

Third, each player must bring 6 new leather game baseballs and 1 used practice ball.
